Fun Beach Games For Your Next Pawleys Island Vacation

Family on Beach

Fun Beach Games For Your Next Pawleys Island Vacation

We know that you can’t wait for your next vacation to Pawleys Island! After all, this coastal Carolina paradise has some of the most breathtaking beaches along the eastern seaboard! And if you’re travelling with some little ones, we all know that it can’t hurt to have some fun games and activities lined up for them during your day at the beach. And remember, there’s no age limit on having fun, so here are a few great beach games to enjoy on your next Pawleys Island vacation.

Family on Beach

Musical Towels

We’ve all played musical chairs, so you can probably see where this one is going, but there’s sure to be fun times (and hilarious video) when you combine good music with family competition. Simply lay out your beach towels, have someone spin your favorite beach jams on their smartphone or speaker and when the music stops, the last person not on a towel is eliminated. Since everyone is on sand, the game will get a unique spin, with players trying to find their footing and making acrobatic dives to try to stay in the match.

Scavenger Hunts

A scavenger hunt along the beach is a fantastic way to occupy the attention spans of kids, challenging them to locate and document various things they might spot along the coast. The list can be as long or short as you wish, and things on it can range from pelicans to Frisbees to someone wearing a yellow swimsuit doing the Macarena. OK, you may not want to get that specific, or if you’re really trying to pose a challenge, have at it! You can also make it a collector’s scavenger hunt by having contestants gather various color seashells, pebbles, driftwood or other beach findings.

Sand Pictionary

We all know kids love to doodle, and what could be more fun than drawing on the beach with the sand as your canvas? For a fun beach-themed version of the classic game Pictionary, simply jot down a bunch of different drawing ideas on scraps of paper and toss them in a hat. Ideas can be anything you like, but since you’re on the beach you can’t go wrong with sea-centric figures like dolphins, surfers and sailboats. The first drawer chosen grabs a topic and will have a minute to create a picture while the others in the game will try to correctly guess what it is. If the picture is guessed, the drawer can grab another topic and keep going until time is up. The drawer gets one point for each picture that the group guesses correctly, and play rotates after each person’s turn. In between rounds of splashing in the surf, this is sure to be a great way to pass the time while on the beach!

We’re sure that these activities are sure to be a hit during your beach days on your upcoming vacation to Pawleys Island. And if for some reason you haven’t made plans for a Pawleys Island vacation, what are you waiting for? Summer is here and The Litchfield Company is here to help you book fantastic vacation accommodations at leading Pawleys Island resorts like Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort, Pawleys Plantation and True Blue Resort. The Litchfield Company Adds Beach Houses to Vacation Rental Inventory with Merger

The Litchfield Company Adds Beach Houses to Vacation Rental Inventory with Merger

At the threshold of a brand new decade, The Litchfield Company Real Estate and The Lachicotte Company/Christie’s International/NAI Commercial Real Estate announced a merger sure to propel these two powerhouse companies into the stratosphere of coastal real estate sales and rentals.

The integration of two of the longest-standing and most reputable real estate/rental companies on the Waccamaw Neck has already spurred an atmosphere of excitement for an industry that has spawned phenomenal success to both companies, but what will it mean going forward?

The linking of these two powerhouse companies will now comprise approximately 160 agents with sales of more than $300M in 2019 and the largest vacation rental company in the area with over 700 vacation and annual rental properties.

“The merger with The Lachicotte Company is a natural fit, given our similarities in culture and the progressive delivery of full-service real estate sales and rentals,” said Vice President and Broker-in-Charge of The Litchfield Company, William B. Davis, Jr. He adds, “The combined strength of The Litchfield Company and The Lachicotte Company will bolster our ability to deliver ever-higher quality real estate and vacation rental services to our clients and customers.”

The rental arm of The Litchfield Company, Litchfield Beach Vacation Rentals, will now incorporate the Lachicotte portfolio of beach vacation home rentals in Pawleys Island, the Litchfield beaches, and Debordieu Colony. “This merger is great news for guests and rental property owners from both companies. The combined reach of our company databases and marketing platforms will exponentially increase options for our guests as well as exposure and potential revenue for our owners,”  Bill Baldree, Managing Partner of The Litchfield Company Vacation Rentals, explains.

The Litchfield Company recognizes the importance and value of the Lachicotte legacy in the area and plans to continue the name, as well as the two existing affiliations of CHRISTIE’S International Real Estate and NAI-Commercial. Lachicotte Broker-in-Charge, Kathy Besse notes, “The values that The Litchfield Company operates under align so well with our professionals at Lachicotte. We have unique chemistry in our office with amazing agents and staff, as does The Litchfield Company—we are excited to be combining these two powerful teams.”

Atalaya Castle at Huntington Beach State Park

A tour of these tranquil grounds is a perfect romantic activity! The castle was the vision of Anna and Archer Huntington. Archer was a wealthy industrialist and Anna was a talented and passionate sculptor. Following Anna’s diagnosis of tuberculosis in 1927, the couple decided winters in South Carolina would be preferable to those in New York City and purchased property in Pawleys Island where Huntington Beach State Park and Brookgreen Gardens reside currently. The castle was built between 1931 and 1933, drawing inspiration from Moorish architecture and spanning 200 feet in width and length and housing 30 total rooms. Atalaya was bestowed the honor of being listed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1984.
