Now, we’re not ones to say, “I told you so,” but we do love when something we adore is discovered and loved by others, too.
So is the case with Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort in Pawleys Island. The sprawling, idyllic destination was named one of the 10 most luxurious and exclusive resorts in the Grand Strand by USA Today’s 10best.com.
Here are a few reasons it made 10best.com’s (and our) list:
Setting: Litchfield is a bit off the beaten path, making it a little more bucolic, a little less hustle-and-bustle than some of the popular spots downtown. The resort comprises 600 beautiful acres, and guests can choose to stay oceanside, golf course-adjacent, by lakes and more. It’s just a few minutes from world-renowned Brookgreen Gardens (hyperlink: http://www.brookgreen.org/) and the festive and romantic Murrells Inlet MarshWalk.
Amenities: Talk to any caffeine-phile and they’ll tell you that sometimes you just need a Starbucks, you know? Litchfield knows that, too, and has one on the premises — which guests can hit up for a venti latte on the way to or from a beautiful morning walk or bike ride on the trails snaking through the premises. Try a meal or nightcap at Webster’s Lowcountry Tavern and Grill — a burger, local pork chop or shrimp and grits can only be improved by enjoying them on the waterfront deck. And for those who really need to check out, Stox & Co. Salon, Spa and Wellness Studio will get you coiffed, sloughed and buffed. It’s a favorite of locals and brides (you know, the most discriminating of customers) so guests truly can’t go wrong.
Activities: Talk to the right folks and you might be hearing that Myrtle Beach need be renamed Myrtle Golf — it’s nearly as big a draw as the ocean. Litchfield, naturally, offers the choicest links in the area with their four award-winning courses. Year-round residents point to Litchfield when asked for the best of the best (and Golf Digest even gave it four stars, so we’re not alone). If golf is not your thing, Beachside Fitness and Litchfield’s pools and lazy river beckon. The gym features state-of-the-art equipment, a weight room, racquetball courts and fitness classes at the indoor pool. Wind down with a steam or sauna, and then contemplate a bike rental or shuttle ride to the beach. If you’re in the mood for staying close by, amble over to the Play Pool Plaza with the kids (or on your own — lazy rivers aren’t just for little ones!) to float, splash or just lay around.
Litchfield offers luxury in full force or a-la carte. Guests choose — and they never go wrong.
