Fantastic Spring Events Coming to Brookgreen Gardens

There is no other place in the world quite like Brookgreen Gardens. The gardens are imbued with history, dripping with lowcountry charm, and bursting with natural and manmade beauty from the towering live oaks strewn with Spanish moss to the larger than life sculptures that dot the grounds. And as springtime in the south is a tremendously fragrant and beautiful time of year, you can rest assured that the Gardens are worth a visit in the spring. Especially when you consider all the fantastic events that take place there. Here’s a rundown of some of the most exciting upcoming events:

Plantacular Sale April 12 & 13
This is an event that locals and visitors to the area alike look forward to year after year. Overflow plants, often hard-to-find specimens, from the greenhouses and nurseries at Brookgreen are opened up to the public for purchase. Plus, the horticulture staff at Brookgreen will share all kinds of gardening tips that will help you make your own home garden more Brookgreen-like.

An Evening Under the Palmettos
If you love historic Brookgreen Gardens as much as you love an excuse to don your finest for a black tie affair, get your tickets now ($175 each) for the May 3 Evening Under the Palmettos. Tapas, cocktails, entertainment and a limited silent auction with amazing offerings will make for a splendid evening and a chance to help support the next exhibit at the Lowcountry Zoo at Brookgreen Gardens.

Children’s Nature & Sensory Trail Opens Early March
Brookgreen isn’t just for grownups, there’s also always something great going on for kids. And this spring, a new outdoor enrichment program for kids aged 6 and older will open up near the Whispering Wings Butterfly Exhibit and the Enchanted Storybook Forest. The Children’s Nature & Sensory Trail will help kids learn about nature through play by “using their five senses in fun ways.” There will be a “fingers feel” station where kids can feel tree bark, a fact station with questions, and a mimicry station that will allow kids to imitate the movements of various animals.

These are just a few of the ways you can enjoy Brookgreen Gardens, one of the most popular attractions in the region, and located just minutes north of Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort. Garden admission is $14 for adults 13-64, $12 for adults 65 and older, $7 for children 4-12, and free for kids three and younger when accompanied by an adult. The garden is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., though the gardens are open late, until 8 p.m., during the month of April.
