With the leaves beginning to turn from green to beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and red, it is clear that Fall is right around the corner. Embrace the cooler temperatures and lovely natural scenes with a visit to Brookgreen Gardens in Pawleys Island for one of its autumnal celebrations in 2016.
The new season kicks off on October 1, when the gardens bring Fall to life on the South Strand with the 2016 Harvest Home Weekend Festival. This festival is a celebration for all, so bring your entire family for two fun-filled days that are sure to wash those post-Summer blues away. The activities commence on Saturday, and both days feature schedules that begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m.
Brookgreen Gardens’ Harvest Home Weekend Festival will bring out the kid in everyone, with activities like thrilling hay rides, exciting scarecrow building, and pumpkin painting. Put your creativity and love for the season on display, as you partake in any or all of these enjoyable activities. Furthermore, food and beverage selections will be served under a big community tent, where you can mingle with other visitors. Make sure you stop by the Brookgreen Gardens Keepsakes Shop, where artisan potters and sweet-grass weavers will be set up for demonstrations. There you can also find gourmet food samplings and author signings.
Don’t miss out on the Lowcountry Zoo section of the gardens, where you will find additional hayrides, temporary tattoos for the kids, a snack tent, and an arts and crafts area for the children. There, you can participate in activities like street chalking and wool spinning. The Butterfly House will be open for your viewing pleasure as well!
