Top 5 Seafood Restaurants South of Myrtle Beach

Litchfield Beach   |   08 Oct 2016

Guests at Litchfield Beach Golf & Resort are fortunate that they don't have to leave the premises to enjoy excellent seafood. The on-site Webster's Lowcountry Grill serves a nice selection of steaks and seafood so you can enjoy surf and turf without the hassle of going out for dinner. But if you want to take your taste buds on a tour of the local seafood scene in nearby Murrells Inlet, Pawleys Island and Litchfield Beach, you don’t have to go very far or look very hard. Here are five of our favorite seafood places in the neighborhood:

* Frank's: This highly acclaimed restaurant is actually two eateries in one - Frank's Restaurant and Frank's Out Back. While the covered patio is considered a separate entity from the converted house/restaurant, both Pawleys Island fine-dining spots serve fresh seafood in an array of creative dishes by the award-winning chefs. Shrimp and grits, fried oysters and pan-seared scallops are among the house favorites, and you can create your own surf-and-turf combo with Frank's grilled steaks and chops. The wood-fired pizzas are great for kids and adults, and the nightly specials feature fresh catch concoctions.

* Hog Heaven BBQ: Don't let the name fool you. This uber-casual Pawleys Island establishment is not only known for some of the best barbecue and country cooking in the Lowcountry; it also serves some of the freshest seafood in town. Perfect for parties that include seafood and 'landfood' fans, Hog Heaven puts out a surf-and-turf spread that ranges from fresh local shrimp, crab and oysters to pulled pork BBQ, fried chicken and all the fixings. Featuring a full buffet as well as all upon can eat shrimp and oysters on Fridays and Saturdays, Hog Heaven is a great place for those who love an amphibious feast.

* Lee's Inlet Kitchen: Come hungry and come as you are to this Murrells Inlet institution, which has been serving fresh seafood dishes for nearly 70 years. You can't stay in business in this competitive market without making folks happy, and the family owned and operated restaurant goes the extra mile to accomplish that mission. Towering platters of fried, grilled, baked and broiled seafood flow from the kitchen to repeat customers who swear by Lee's homestyle cooking and hospitality.

* Litchfield Beach Fish House: This hot spot might not have the curb appeal of the many fine dining options in town. The giant shark leaping out of the roof and the fishermen hooking him from the street sign looks like something you might expect to find in nearby Myrtle Beach. But once you get through the door, you are in for a real seafood treat without the pretense and ridiculous prices. Hot hushpuppies greet you at the table and a long list of seafood favorites make up the extensive menu. The outdoor porch is a great place to grab some drinks and appetizers.

* Murrells Inlet Marshwalk: OK, so this may sound like a cop out since there are a dozen seafood restaurants that reside along the waterfront wooden walkway, but you can't go wrong by dining at any of these popular establishments. Featuring back porches that overlook the inlet, the Marshwalk restaurants offer great views of fishing boats returning from a day at sea before unloading their catches directly to the kitchens. Capt. Dave's Dockside, Creek Ratz, Drunken Jack's, Wahoo's and many more offer relaxing environments and well-prepared seafood dishes. Make a night of it by enjoying the live music and views.

After a nice night out for the best seafood on the South Strand, return to your vacation home away from home at Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort. It’s a great place to relax and recover from a delicious seafood feast.
